I was thinking of doing a stamping design but I didn't quite like how big the rose image was so I decided to attempt the roses freehand. Practice makes perfect so hopefully I'll end up doing more freehand nail art in future.
What's your favourite lilac/purple? What do you think of my NOTD?
I used Essie's Lilacism which is your light lilac pastel crème as the base but can't quite remember how many coats I applied, most probably about three coats though.
For the roses I used China Glaze's Urban night, a vampy eggplant purple and using a toothpick I did small short lines going around in a circle to resemble a rose. It’s not the prettiest rose but it looks close to one. At least one of my male friends was able to tell what it was.
I wanted to add something extra to the accent nail just to make it a little different from the rest so using Nicole by OPI's one less lonely glitter and a dotting tool, I added a bit of purple glitter to the middle of each rose. Maybe because the glitter polish isn't so dense, my dotting tool picked up more clear polish than it did with the glitter so in person it's hardly noticeable. Surprised that my camera even picked up that little bit I had on my nails.
Applying the top coat is the part where I had to be careful especially with a nail design because it tends to smudge which explains why the roses look a little blurry. Looking at it from afar in person, I couldn’t help but think it looked a little like a turtles shell. Overall I was quite satisfied with how this came out.
