Nails Inc's Mornington crescent

Ah Spring is just round the corner and I can't wait to bring out all my brights. Just when there was a slight show of sun during the crazy Winter weather in the UK recently, I thought it would've been the right time to try out this polish. Nails Inc's Mornington crescent. (I remember this place used to be on one of the paths to University. Just saying. Ah, I miss them days.)

NI's Mornington crescent is a bright red coral polish which is perfect for summer. Application was good and smooth. Didn't quite expect this one to be but it turned out close to opaque in one coat with very few empty patches here and there so I'd say it has potential to be with careful application. Two coats makes it perfect here but it did stain a little.

Having such a nice colour on I kept thinking it makes such a good canvas for some nail art. Couldn't let it go to waste now can we? :) I may have done this design before but I really can't recall if I have or not. It's just like trying to remember what polishes are sitting in my stash when I'm out shopping for more.

With the help of a dotting tool and toothpick, I slowly added the flowers using Barry M's Matt white. Came out pretty good to me, wasn't clustered like how things usually turn out when I get too polish happy.

The design could have been left like so but it looked a little plain at the same time so adding dots felt like the best decision. The middle and Index fingers seems to have a little more dots than the rest. (See what I mean polish happy.) It could've been worse though and the overall look isn't bad so I'm happy.

Hope everyone enjoyed the post and pictures :)

What's your favourite colour you like to bring out whenever Spring/Summer rolls around?

Nails Inc Countess road

Matte

Gosh where has time gone?! It's the middle of March already. Weren't it just New years not long ago? At least that's what it felt like to me or maybe that's what full time work does to you.

Anyway, there's still time to fit some Korean dramas and manicures in my busy lifestyle. Here's Nails Inc's Countess road, the fifth polish I'm trying from the lucky dip order I made ages ago. It's a gorgeous matte purple and silver shimmer polish.

This polish looks pretty much opaque in one coat but it didn't feel right for me if there wasn't a second because some parts were applied unevenly, so here in the photos you're seeing two coats. It did dry in good time which for a matte polish I consider normal.

The thing I've heard about matte polishes before is they can be prone to chipping and it's no different for Countess road. The manicure didn't really survive to the second day because I realised some minor tip wear and a chip on the thumb on the first. A top coat would've helped but wouldn't that just beat the purpose of it being matte? Thinking back it would've been good to see how all that shimmer looked under a layer of glossy top coat or a nail design too? Ah well, next time. :)

Thanks for reading. Hope you enjoyed this post. :)

Nails Inc Barbican & some nail art doodling using Barry M

Barry M

I have to admit I'm pretty late when it comes to trying some of the new stuff which is why I've never tried any concrete polishes. Have a look at Nails Inc's Barbican though, it's the first concrete polish in my collection.

Barbican is a sort of grey-ish green rough textured polish. The colour looks a little light in my photos but this one is definitely a one coater. Doing two was a must for me though just to make sure everything was covered. It's fast drying even without a top coat.

I wouldn't say these types of polishes are exactly my style. My fingers were just itching to rub those rough surfaces against something but it's nice to have in my collection since it's different from the usual.

When manicures reaches the end of it's wear time I tend to do some practice nail designs before removing everything since it's a good canvas to work on without having to worry about messing the whole thing up. My Barry M nail art pens are no longer kept in my drawers but instead sitting on my table so I used it for some nail art doodling since it's now in easy access. The surface was rough to work on but it ended up looking good to me. Will definitely be re-doing these designs properly.
