NOTD: Ski teal we have a splash of turquoise water marble nails

Yes, I know the title is beyond lame but I’ve been having major brain farts these days and only hastily thought of this title. I wanted something else other than the ‘third water marble attempt’ title I was planning to use. It’s been way too long since my last water marble manicure and I’ve finally gotten round to doing one again. I had much fun with this attempt and I’m quite impressed with the results colour wise.

Products I used:
As usual I applied my base coat by The Edge
Two coat of Essie’s Blanc
Scotch tape for the skin around my nails
For the polishes I used:
                Essie’s Splash of Grenadine
                OPI’s Ski teal we drop
                Essie’s Turquoise & Caicos
Acetone for cleanups
Finished everything off with a coat of China Glaze’s fast forward top coat.

I haven’t used splash of grenadine in forever, I remember it was one of the first Essie polishes I got my hands on. Ski teal we drop is by far the best teal I own and in my collection I have no other like it, I just had an urge to use it for a design, any design, I just wanted to use it! The turquoise & Caicos was just meh.. I know a lot of people like that one but alone it never really looked anything special to me. Altogether though I love how well the colours looked.

I did come across some trouble with this manicure but it was all worth it in the end. After some pre-tests to see the colour and how suitable each polish was for the design, I found that everything would spread much better if I used Essie’s splash of Grenadine first each time. Whilst taking off the tape it accidently got stuck on one of my nails. All that was going through my head was DANG and NOOOO! The tape tore away a chunk of polish on the left side of the nail on my middle finger so I re-marbled that small part again.

I swear in person it doesn’t show as much mistakes as it does in the photos or maybe I was too happy to notice. I’m seeing a bit of water marks on the pinkie and I still can’t figure out the air bubble problems but if we’re not looking at it on a photo taken by a camera in a macro setting it’s really not that bad.

What do you think about my water marble nails? Have you ever tried water marble nails?
