Choi's nails

Bristol doesn't quite suit me since the colour seems a little too close to my skin tone. It doesn't stand out well enough on me and that's a shame, it's a very good neutral shade. I feel that it's a perfect fit for work especially for those who have an office job because it's such a sensible colour.

How do you guys feel about Bristol? Would you wear this one? 

All of these were between £2.99-3.99 bought on a 3 for 2 deal. It's the time where I usually shop for polishes because that and the discount I have makes a good price. I picked up these last year between November and December and these were pretty new at the time but you might have seen some reviews about them already.

The two sets I really wanted to get was the matte and glitter textured effect polishes. I've had one or two polishes received in a collection where I didn't realise they were matte until swatching them but for a whole collection it's a first. They're not outstanding colours but they're good basic ones.

Whenever I used to read about textured effects I used to think they looked too 'textured' for me, whilst looking on the polish rack these stood out to me so much so of course they made their way nicely into my basket.

Limited edition nail paints 2013

They had these two limited edition nail paints that I had to get especially the gold bar glitter polish on the left. I planned to use that for New years when I first brought it home but when it came nearer the time I totally forgot about this one. These two were exclusive to Superdrugs only. Boots also had another two limited ones which were different but I believe they're no longer on offer.

These were all the remaining ones I picked up to either make up for the 3 for 2 deal, as back ups or colours that I felt were essential to my collection like the nude. The crystal glaze polish wasn't needed but it looked good to have. It's a flaky top coat. FLAKY!

Swiss cottage was the last polish I picked up to get free shipping. I found it similar to the duochrome polish(?) which so many people was talking about awhile while back.

The polish names are pretty interesting in a way that they're places in the UK, mainly London I think which means everytime I read one of the polish names I'm like 'I've been there' or 'I know that place'

So far I've tried a few since receiving these. Not quite sure they're worth £11 (which is a little more expensive than some places that retail OPI) but for the price I got them I'll say they're good. Soon enough I'll have a line up of posts to show you what each polish looks like to stay tuned.

Have you tried Nails Inc polishes before? Which one are you most looking forward for me to try? :)

Ah just look at the bottle shade. I know I'm going to have some trouble describing this one. Fantasy fire is a purple bas with some red, blue-ish greeny shimmer shining through. There might be a bit more to it too but it's hard to see through.



It applied smoothly but the polish was so sheer especially on the first and second coat. This is actually my second time wearing this since the paint job was horrible on the first but with both times I'd say it's best with three which is what I'm wearing here. The colour effect is so hard to capture but it's best viewed in sunlight.



Though it looked great in the bottle I wasn't so excited about it on my nails. I have seen people layer FF over other polishes so I might give that a try. Might like it better than on it's own.

What do you think of MF's FF? What do you suggest layering this over? :)

China Glaze's Ahoy is a bright fuchsia raspberry pink with some gold flakies/shimmer. It's more obvious in person and ahh doesn't this polish look like such a juicy pink!

As for the application, the first coat was sheer but smooth with a bit of VNL peeking through but it's nothing a second coat couldn't solve which is what you're seeing in the pictures. With a good and normal consistency this one was so easy to apply; very easy to clean up too with a decent drying time but it just made my hands look a little pale. Doesn't matter though, I will definitely be going back to this one some time maybe for some nail art?

Mango

Mango

Mango is a bright orange with a tricky formula. It feels a little thick and goopy whilst applying it. It's almost opaque on the first coat but because of the consistency it turned out somewhat patchy. I can't put all the blame on the polish though since this was the first time painting my nails in a very long time. This required two coats and took a little while to dry but the photos are a little inaccurate. They're showing up as a really bright orange there. They are, but not so much. More of the bottle shade.

Key lime

Key lime is an apple green. It's nice and bright with a formula very similar to Mango, tricky application. This one had a few weird streaks but after two coats it evened itself out. It's hardly noticeable, don't you think? 

Guava

Guava, this one's more of a turquoise blue rather than that you see in the photos because it's absolutely inaccurate. Blue's can be a pain to capture sometimes. The formula on this one was much better than the previous two though. It applies thin because it's a little runny. It's almost opaque in one coat with a few streaks and with two coats it evened itself like the first two.

Blue grape is a bright cobalt blue. Blue grape has a thin and runny formula and it could pass off as a one coat-er with a thick layer but I chose to do two here.

Passion fruit

Passion fruit is like a raspberry pinky red. Very bright. Opaque in one coat but here's two to make sure everything is covered nicely. This one dried fast.

All the swatches are done without a top coat. Well, they don't really need one which lives up to the Gelly hi shine name. If you're planning to wear these longer than I did then a top coat is definitely recommended to extend the wear time. Some of the photos show the colours to be a bit brighter than they actually are but only just by a little. 

The whole collection is a perfect fit for summer. All the colours look so juicy and my favourite ones would have to be blue grape and passion fruit; the colours are just so bright.

The base is Misa's I will survive which is your standard black. I just couldn't have the first manicure of the year without some glitter so the nail on the middle and ring finger was topped with two layers of Barry M's Gold glitter and the numbers 2014 was written using Barry M's white nail art pen. 


The middle finger was originally meant to be a glitter explosion nail design. I had it all planned out in my head but I couldn't get it to look right so in the end I covered everything with the gold glitter. That is why the glitter looks a little less even than the ring.
