NOTD: Zoya’s Bevin & Color club’s covered in diamonds

Monday, June 25, 2012

This is the third Zoya I tried, Bevin from their spring 2012 True collection. Zoya describes this colour as ‘a dusty, medium sage green with teal tones and a creamy opaque finish’. Pretty much sums it all up.

Application was good just like the first two I’ve tried. Consistency was just right, not too runny or thick so it only took two coats to make it opaque. At first glance it reminded me of OPI’s mermaid’s tears from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection but I don’t think they’re actually similar. It is the first polish that comes to mind though.

Like usual I couldn’t leave this as a plain manicure even though I wish I did. I topped every nail with Color club’s covered in diamonds which someone mentioned to me that it was a PITA (pain in the a**) to apply. No doubt it was. I’ve swatched it on one of my nails before but it wasn’t as troublesome to apply as it was this time.

Covered in diamonds are holographic flakes in different shapes and sizes swimming in a clear base. The flakes shine yellow-orange, green and blue but those flakes just refused to sit flat unless I dabbed, patted and smoothed them down. The clear base was slightly hard to work with too since it was a little thick. I may try using nail polish thinner on it some time.

My cuticles aren’t looking so pretty in the photos; as usual I forgot to apply my cuticle cream after using acetone for cleanups so they’re looking a bit dry and battered there.

  1. I got Bevin in a Birchbox, but I haven't worn it yet. The Color Club polish looks pretty, but I have avoided it just because of how bad I hear the application is. The finished product looks pretty, though!
