Choi's nails

Hope you enjoyed reading my first post I've done in a while :D

Oval plum belongs to the Diamond Luxe collection and the biggest selling point with this set is the polishes contain real diamond dust. It makes even the common colours feel fancy and looks good. If only my camera could capture the shimmery side of it all.

One coat of Oval Plum is good enough but two coats is best. Application is smooth too. This polish really didn't disappoint.




I picked out this shade to try simply because it looked very feminine and fitted Valentines very well. It did need a bit more of that love touch to it though so with the Chrome gold from their new Chrome collection I did a lousy attempt at some crosses and love hearts. They're not particularly perfect and the brush strokes are very evident but it'll have to do.




How did everyone spend their Valentines? How will you be spending Chinese new year?

The base is Essie's I pink I can from their Breast Cancer awareness 2014 collection. In fact I even purchased the other two from the set because they looked like awesome pinks to have but they've just not been tried as of yet.

I used 2-3 coats here with a thin runny formula. Maybe it's been too long since I've added a new Essie to my collection that I've forgotten how the formulas usually were but it is gorgeous though isn't it? ;)


For the leopard print I used Barry M's gold foil and using a dotting tool drew different patches over my nail almost forgetting that I had to add the black. With Misa's I will survive and a nail art brush I did some small lines/c shaped lines around the gold to make it more like the prints.

Please accept some simple freehand nail art from me for the time being. I've shut my brain down from all the hard thinking.

The base is China Glaze's Urban night, a vampy eggplant purple and the stripes were done freehand with China Glaze's Aquadelic and Barry M's Matt white. Look closely and you'll see all little mistakes but I tried ^^

The polishes are all from Models Own mainly from their hypergel collection which consists of a good range of colours.

• The base is Naked glow - Nude beige
• Index and pinkie glitter is Pink Fizz - Light pink glitter
• For the middle and ring finger the roses are made up of Cerise shine and pink veneer both dabbed with a brush.
  The leaves are dotted using Turquoise gloss and the white dots is just White light.

This seriously didn't take a lot of time and was fairly easy to do. I may have gotten a little roses happy made my ring finger nail look somewhat congested compared the middle but that's no problem.

After Barry M's nude base the rest is made up of Color Club's Endless, a baby pink and flamingo which is a neon pink. The original plan was to leave it with that until I realised the colour proportions just didn't look right and that's where China Glaze's I'm not lion came in. The whole thing just looks really girly and barbie-ish. Flamingo really stands out here making it the gem in this design.







The drying time of the whole thing wasn't impressive though. This was 5 coats including top coat; even though it was finished in the afternoon by night time it still felt squidgy. 

Overall I'm still satisfied with the whole design. I didn't brighten my photos as much on purpose to show how bright the pink is *points to a few photos up* so forgive me if they look a little dull :)

Just finishing off with a little update about my nails. I finally bit the bullet and filed down my nails into the almond/stiletto style.. on my right hand. The hand that is never captured under the lens and I can say they're alright so far. The last time I attempted this, only the thumb nail was done, this time I took it further and did all five nails. All the ones I've seen on Instagram look gorgeous but I'm not quite sure they're for me. It's really weird not having the 'edges'. I can't bear to change the one's on my left because I'm thinking my squares are still looking neat! Now I'm left with a different nail shape on each hand. As weird as this might sound I think I'm going to leave it like so until these almonds grow out on my right just to see how it looks longer. I'll need it a little longer if I was to change it back to my squares anyway. *Sigh. A long wait. I blame instagram!!
